On June 7th, 2024, Dom was diagnosed with bowel Cancer. This turned our world upside down in the short term, but thankfully it was caught at stage 1. Early diagnosis is key with any cancer and that is why we are raising funds and awareness for the #noregrets campaign run by the Marie Keating Foundation and Bowel Cancer Ireland. This is a campaign to raise awareness for Bowel Cancer in Ireland, make people more aware of symptoms and to decrease the standard screening age from 59 to 50. Dom was 37 when diagnosed.
We have done a bit running over the years and have always been intrigued and drawn towards running an ultra marathon. Having heard a few inspiring stories and spoken to a few people, we decided to really push our limits and sign up for Kerry Way Ultra. The Kerry Way Ultra is a 200km Ultramarathon with approximately 5000m of elevation. We have dedicated ourselves to some hard training over the last couple of months. When we’re struggling, we come back to the same thought; it could always be worse; we get to do this; who knows if we will get the opportunity to attempt something like this ever again. #noregrets.
