Our incredible 100km in 30 Days Ambassadors

Dearbhaile O'Hare

Dearbhaile is a breast cancer thriver, author, and exercise professional who firmly believes that movement is medicine and humour belongs in serious conversations. After her breast cancer diagnosis, Dearbhaile O’Hare discovered the power of movement in recovery and survivorship. Having experienced first hand how empowering the Marie Keating Foundations Survive and Thrive course was, she became a patient ambassador to help raise awareness. Dearbhaile doesn’t shy from on challenges to raise awareness, support others affected by cancer, and show that strength after cancer is about reclaiming confidence, joy and life itself.

Joy Sta Maria
Joy Sta Maria - Patient Ambassador

Two months after her wedding, oncology nurse Joy Sta Maria was diagnosed with breast cancer - suddenly experiencing cancer from the other side of the bed. Through chemotherapy, surgery and survivorship, Joy learned that healing isn’t about becoming the person you once were, but finding strength in who you are today.

Joy is taking on 100km in 30 Days to support others facing cancer and to help bring comfort, understanding and hope to every patient journey.

Tracey Kelly

On the 1st of May 2024, Tracey was diagnosed with Stage 3 Grade 3 Breast Cancer.

Her life changed in ways she could have never imagined. In the beginning there was fear and uncertainty, but she found strength I didn't know I had. After a physically and emotionally harrowing journey through treatment Tracey Kelly found support, understanding and hope through the Marie Keating Foundation’s Survive and Thrive programme. Now, with her daughter Charlie Jane by her side, she’s taking on 100km in 30 Days to give back and help support others navigating life during and after cancer.

Brendan Donlon

When Brendan Donlon was diagnosed with Stage 3 bowel cancer at 48, he had experienced very few warning signs before emergency surgery saved his life. Since then, he has dedicated himself to raising awareness of bowel cancer symptoms and the importance of screening and early detection.

Through 100km in 30 Days, Brendan is helping support vital cancer awareness and support services for people and families across Ireland.
