The Mental Health Challenge

Monday 22nd Jun 100Kms over 30-days may not seem like a very difficult challenge for some folks, especially myself as I managed a hike of 20Kms the other weekend and 13Kms this weekend. However, Cancer affects more than our physical health as it impacts our lives in so many other ways. For example, our relationship with our partner, in my case permanent ED (Erectile Dysfunction) from an aggressive form of Prostate Cancer when I had a radical prostatectomy age of 53! This plays on your mind and if allowed can drag you down to some very dark places. In addition I suffer with permanent incontinence which means any walk of any distance causes leakage to occur so I have to wear pads all the time. This makes the 100Km challenge far more a mental health challenge for me than a physical one. But the alternative is to lock yourself away, never get to enjoy what life has to offer and miss out on the beauty that nature displays for us on a daily basis. So on behalf of every cancer patient who is taken on this challenge we Thank You for your support, generosity and kind words of support. You have no idea how it uplifts us to see you acknowledge our achievement by your support, now to bust that 100Kms and see how far beyond I can go... Share
